Description
Fall of Glomach in the western Highlands plunges through a dark rocky cleft, with white spray and green cliff ledges bringing the force of a remote cascade close to view.
In the remote country north of Kintail, the Falls of Glomach drop 113 metres into a deep gorge. The waterfall is among Britain’s highest, reached through Highland uplands rather than from a roadside viewpoint. Its Gaelic name is associated with mist, reflecting the spray and cloud that gather around the chasm.
The view of Fall of Glomach faces the white torrent as it tumbles over successive dark rocks into a shaded gulf. Green turf and small shrubs cling to the ledges on either side. Beyond the lip, rounded hills rise beneath broken cream clouds, with a thin pale burn visible on a far slope. The fresh greens suggest a bright day in late spring or summer.
