This woodblock print originates from the series Famous Places in Owari (Meiku shōkei shohen), a collection documenting specific locations within the Owari Province. Katsukawa Shunkō, a member of the Katsukawa school, is primarily recognised for his actor portraits, yet this work demonstrates his engagement with the meisho-e tradition, or pictures of famous places. The composition is divided into two distinct registers, each presenting a specific site: the upper panel depicts the Daiko Bridge, while the lower panel shows Mount Komaki.

The aesthetic approach here is restrained. The artist employs a limited palette of soft greens, muted ochres, and pale pinks to suggest the atmosphere of the region. The lines are precise, defining the architectural elements of the bridge and the gentle contours of the mountain with clarity. The inclusion of classical Japanese calligraphy on the facing page provides historical and literary context for the scenes, a common feature in Edo-period illustrated books.

Unlike the dramatic, high-contrast works often associated with later ukiyo-e artists, this print relies on a balanced arrangement of space and form.
