Description
Farr on the Highland north coast looks across deep blue water towards a pale sandy bay, with broken rocky headlands and low heather moors under drifting white summer clouds.
Farr lies near Bettyhill on the north coast of Sutherland, above a bay opening to the northern sea. The old parish church now houses Strathnaver Museum, linking the area with the history of local communities and the Clearances. Sandy shores alternate with rocky promontories along this stretch of coast.
The viewpoint crosses a broad blue inlet towards a long strip of pale sand beneath rolling green and brown hills. On the right, a dark cliff projects into the water, with white foam tracing its foot. Grey foreground boulders sit among grass and pink heather. Broken cloud masses drift across the blue sky, leaving the empty coast in soft summer light.
