Description
Fen Drayton in Cambridgeshire opens across pale blue lakes and low reed islands, with white near flowers and distant leafy trees beneath loose cream clouds on a bright late spring afternoon.
The lakes near this village developed from flooded sand and gravel workings beside the Great Ouse floodplain. Their wetland reserve combines open water with meadows and woodland. The RSPB has managed the site since 2007, creating sheltered bays and shallow feeding pools for waterbirds.
Fen Drayton has pale blue water divided by low reed islands and narrow green points. A distant fringe of leafy trees includes several tall slim crowns and white blossom patches. Two low floating objects sit on the right water, while a lone post rises near the left bank. White near flowers suggest bright late spring conditions under loose cream clouds.
