Description
Fishguard opens its sheltered Pembrokeshire harbour to the curious coastal walker, a rewarding town connection for those who enjoy seeing the tide reveal another side of familiar waters.
An orange cabin boat rests near a pale channel between wide mud banks. Small white hulls gather beneath the long quay on the left. Yellow gorse catches the sun above a sheer rock face, while hedged pastures climb behind the roofs and dark conifers fill the close valley slope.
From the Marine Walk, Fishguard’s old port can be understood as the meeting of the Afon Gwaun and the sea. The river keeps a clear course even as the harbour empties, connecting the town with the wooded valley behind. A preference for quieter coastal viewpoints finds a rich subject here, where the exposed ground reveals connections that high water conceals.
