Valtat studied at the Académie Julian and the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he was influenced by artists such as Gustave Moreau and Pierre Bonnard. He exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants and the Salon d'Automne, becoming recognised for his bold colour palettes and expressive brushwork. This still life painting depicts a bouquet of flowers in a vase. The composition is dominated by red, white, and yellow blossoms, set against a background of muted tones. Valtat's brushstrokes are visible and textured, contributing to the painting's overall sense of movement and energy. The vase, rendered in shades of blue and green, sits on a surface covered with a patterned cloth.
