Description
Forfar sits within Angus's fertile Strathmore country, with its loch and wooded slopes offering a softer setting to the historic town beneath open farmland and the distant hill skyline.
The county town occupies the broad Strathmore valley, surrounded by productive farmland. Its western edge meets a freshwater loch, now part of a country park, while paths around the town connect the water with higher viewpoints such as Balmashanner Hill.
Forfar appears across a wide expanse of pale blue water, with low roofs gathered behind a belt of trees. Tall golden reeds fill the foreground. Fields climb beyond the houses towards a wooded ridge, where a small square tower breaks the skyline. The yellowing vegetation and soft light suggest early autumn, with cream clouds above the quiet loch.
