Description
Garbh Eilean near Kylesku in the Highlands belongs to a quiet sea passage, where rocky green shores and a steep mountain face rise above calm blue water in warm autumn light.
This Garbh Eilean lies in the Kylesku area of northwest Sutherland, beside the narrow waters of Caolas Cumhann. The passage links the inland sea lochs with Loch a’ Chàirn Bhàin. Rocky promontories and the steep hills around Quinag enclose a landscape shaped by water and glaciation.
The view opens across smooth blue water towards two low headlands, their pale broken rock faces topped with short grass. Beyond, a steep mountain crown catches gold light on its upper ribs, while the lower slopes fall into deep green shade. Russet heather and ochre grass cover the near bank. Soft white clouds leave the autumn colours clear without disturbing the stillness of the channel.
