Pronk was a prolific draughtsman known for his precise documentation of Dutch towns, churches, and country estates. His work provides a valuable record of eighteenth-century architecture and rural life before the industrial changes of the following centuries.
The composition is balanced, with the church serving as the primary vertical element. Pronk employs a delicate pen-and-ink technique, supplemented by subtle grey washes to define light and shadow. The foreground features a village well and small groups of figures, which provide a sense of scale and daily activity.
