Description
Glen Brittle on Highland Skye leads a winding blue river towards the jagged Cuillin, with pale gravel banks, sunlit grass and a dark conifer block beneath a bright summer sky.
Glen Brittle runs through southern Skye along the river that enters Loch Brittle on the coast. The Black Cuillin bounds the valley to the east, sending many tributaries down its slopes. Woodland occupies parts of the western side, while paths from the glen give access to mountain corries.
The river swings through two broad bends across the lower grassland, its blue channel bordered by pale grey shingle. A dense, almost rectangular stand of conifers occupies the middle slope. Beyond, bright green shoulders rise into a serrated row of dark grey peaks. Small shadowed gullies lead towards the high corries, under white clouds that leave much of the summer valley in sunlight.
