Description
Glen Torridon in the western Highlands winds between steep mountain walls, with a silver blue river, a narrow road and purple heather spread below a high rocky viewpoint in summer light.
Glen Torridon lies in Wester Ross beneath the large mountain mass of Liathach and close to Beinn Eighe. Torridonian sandstone forms much of this mountain country, often arranged in broad terraces. The valley leads inland from the sea loch, providing a lower route through the surrounding Highland peaks.
From the heather covered rock ledge, a river can be followed through tight curves across green flats. A pale road crosses the lower ground and bends past a small distant house. Dark mountain buttresses rise on the left, with long shadowed gullies separating their green slopes. White clouds frame the blue sky, giving the snow free landscape the clear distance of a summer afternoon.
