Description
Glencoe Lochan in Highland Lochaber reflects a pale mountain peak between dark conifers and leafy banks, with a small timber platform adding a quiet point of scale to the still summer water.
Glencoe Lochan lies in woodland close to Glencoe village, within a landscape shaped as a reminder of Canada. Lord Strathcona planted North American trees here during the nineteenth century for his Canadian wife. Paths around the water connect this sheltered lochan with the surrounding forested slopes.
The mountain’s grey summit is repeated clearly in the blue surface, alongside tall pointed conifers and lighter broadleaf crowns. A small wooden platform extends from the right bank, its rails doubled in the reflection. Near branches frame the left edge without closing the open water. Soft white clouds and dense green leaves suggest a calm summer day in the wooded hollow.
