Description
Golden Valley in the Cotswolds gathers pale houses beneath amber foliage, their clustered roofs and a square tower catching warm light within an embrace of densely wooded slopes.
Between Chalford and Stroud, the Golden Valley follows the River Frome through Gloucestershire. One of Stroud’s Five Valleys, it also carries the railway and Thames and Severn Canal, placing several layers of transport history within a landscape long associated with water-powered textile mills.
Pale stone houses cluster below a square church tower amid dense hillside trees. Autumn colour moves from olive green to amber and orange, with the brightest leaves on the right. Small pastures interrupt the woodland and a narrow lane crosses the lower slope. Soft lavender distance and cream clouds give the valley a gentle depth, with warm seasonal light settling over the roofs.
