Description
Grantham rises above Lincolnshire snow with St Wulfram's slender spire, where bare trees, a timbered pavilion and long blue shadows give the town a bright, still winter setting.
In Lincolnshire, Grantham grew from a Saxon village into a market town by the eleventh century. Wool and leather supported its medieval economy. St Wulfram's remains a major parish church at the town's heart, distinguished by its tall steeple and surviving medieval crypt.
Snow covers the open foreground and the roof of a small timbered pavilion. Behind bare branches, a narrow stone spire reaches into clear blue, flanked by snow-dusted evergreens and pale town roofs. A faint trail of footprints crosses the lawn. Low sunlight gives the snow cream highlights and blue shadows, making this an explicitly wintry view with the church rising above the quiet park.
