Description
Great Pinseat (Whaw Moor) stretches across open heather and distant ridges, with a quiet, expansive mood under a clouded sky The moor rises towards distant hills.
Dense heather fills the foreground in muted mauve, brown and olive tones. Its uneven bands rise towards a broad plateau, where patchwork hills and fields open across the middle distance. A thin, level line of far land sits beneath the cloud-filled sky. The view contains no buildings or close landmarks, leaving the varied moor vegetation and long contours to define the scene.
Great Pinseat (Whaw Moor) is shown as a place of broad upland ground, seen from within the heather rather than from a settlement. The gradual rise carries the eye towards the distant hills, while the near plants retain their own texture and colour.
