Description
Gullane in East Lothian opens above golden links and a sandy shore, with green fairways, distant blue water and a vivid double rainbow beneath sunlit clouds after a passing summer shower.
Along East Lothian's coast, this village is strongly associated with links golf and the sandy beach at Gullane Bents. The coastal grassland supports plants such as sea buckthorn, while nearby courses, including Muirfield, have contributed to the area's long sporting identity beside the Firth of Forth.
At Gullane, bright green fairways cross tawny dune grass above a rock-edged beach. Pale village houses sit farther back among trees. Blue water stretches towards a low distant shore below two rainbow arcs, one brighter than the other. Dark rain cloud contrasts with gold sunlight on the left, suggesting an unsettled but luminous summer evening.
