Description
Hampstead opens from a domed hilltop pavilion towards London, where a tree-framed path and broad summer sky set a measured distance between park and city.
Below the viewpoint, dark foliage gathers around a sloping lawn and a winding path, while pale clouds spread behind the pavilion's green dome. Far beyond the trees, clustered towers and the pointed Shard make a fine, blue-grey horizon, set apart from the bright stonework in the foreground.
Hampstead is often valued for this change of scale: a walk through the heath can turn from close shade to a long view over London. Residents and visitors may recognise the uphill pause before the city appears, with the pavilion holding the foreground against that distant skyline.
