Description
Hay-on-Wye’s close-set roofs catch an amber glow above the Wye in Powys, where a straight bridge crosses dark water and small fields climb the slopes behind town.
Hay-on-Wye is a town in Powys, Wales, beside the River Wye. Dense streets rise from the wooded riverbank towards the castle, with farmland spreading beyond the roofs across a valley enclosed by low hills.
The wide water turns violet beneath the warm sky. A narrow, level bridge reaches diagonally from the right, its slim supports reflected between wooded banks. Gold lights the island trees below it. Slate and pale roofs gather around a winding street; farther back, the castle’s scaffolded wall rises above the houses. Hedgerows divide the yellow-green fields beneath rounded ridgelines.
