Description
High Cup Nick opens from a limestone rim into a sweeping green valley, where dark vertical cliffs hold the eye above a pale winding path.
Foreground blocks show pale fractured faces and patches of lichen before the ground falls away. Across the hollow, the long escarpment is cut into dark vertical ribs beneath a narrow grassy top. Grey scree fans out below the rock wall, and a small footpath threads through the open slope towards the far side.
For people arriving at High Cup Nick on foot, the sudden scale of the hollow is part of the experience. The path offers a human measure against the high rock edge, while the broad sweep of grass and exposed stone keeps the route firmly connected to the Pennine ground.
