Description
Holbeach rises beyond Lincolnshire's broad arable fields with a narrow church spire, where red-brick houses and a low green tree line mark the town across the flat, sunlit countryside.
In Lincolnshire's South Holland district, Holbeach retains the medieval church of All Saints as a major historic landmark. Much of the present church was built in the 1340s, replacing an earlier building recorded in 1177, and it is now listed at Grade I.
A tall spire rises above a row of red-brick houses beyond a golden field. Dark green hedging fills the near edge, with trees forming a low band behind the roofs. The flat land leaves a large blue sky open above the town. Full foliage and warm crop colours suggest late summer, when strong light turns the field into a broad horizontal contrast to the church.
