Description
Isle of Skye in the Highland Inner Hebrides sets a jagged mountain skyline beyond still coastal water, with bright green weed and dark wrack covering the rough foreground shore in summer light.
The Isle of Skye is the largest island of the Inner Hebrides, with an indented coastline extending into several long peninsulas. The Cuillin mountains dominate its southern landscape. Their steep ridges rise above sea lochs and rocky shores, creating a close relationship between the island’s uplands and coast.
The scene begins among rounded rocks draped with black wrack and vivid green weed. Pale angular slabs rise along the right edge, leading towards low shelves at the waterline. Across the smooth blue inlet, sharp peaks stand in a long dark row, with small clouds touching the left summit. Bare mountain faces and strong light on the wet stones suggest a bright summer morning.
