Description
Islington in inner north London unfolds as leafy terraces beneath a glowing evening skyline, where warm brick roofs and autumn coloured trees lead towards the city's distant towers.
Extending from the High Street towards Highbury Fields and Regent's Canal, Islington includes residential streets with surviving Georgian terraces and garden squares. Upper Street forms its principal thoroughfare, bringing shops and civic buildings into an area whose historic housing remains a strong part of its character.
Rows of brick houses and chimney stacks fill the foreground beneath dense yellow, green and russet trees. A small dark church tower rises in the middle distance, while a much taller pointed skyscraper and modern blocks cross the horizon. Orange clouds and a low sun bathe the roofs in warm light. The changing foliage suggests an autumn evening above the neighbourhood.
