Description
Kelty in western Fife is evoked through pale houses and a church beside blue water, with long grasses and purple thistles framing a broad green hillside beyond.
Near the boundary with Perth and Kinross, Kelty developed around nineteenth century coal mining and expanded with the surrounding pits. Nearby Blairadam combines the Adam family's estate history with former industrial ground, where woodland now surrounds old mine sites and the local burns.
The view crosses a grassy slope towards pale houses gathered around a church with a circular window. A quiet stretch of blue water lies below the buildings, edged by exposed sandy ground. Three small upright structures punctuate the green hill behind. White flowers and purple thistles suggest summer, while soft clouds allow patches of sunlight across the distant fields.
