Description
Kettlewell keeps the pleasures of a Dales village close to the water, a sheltered Yorkshire choice where stone houses and a low crossing invite a slower afternoon.
Pink flower spikes rise beside the near boundary, overlooking scattered pale rocks in the shallow channel. A narrow weir spills in small white threads across the centre. Beyond it, one rounded arch frames a patch of green, with tall conifers and a dark plum canopy beside the roofs.
The compact waterside at Kettlewell belongs within Wharfedale's much larger folds. Above the cottages, long slopes and a pale craggy rim keep the uplands visible, even from this intimate position beside the stream. Choose this outlook for the part of a Dales visit spent back among the houses, when a short lane and the sound of falling water are enough to occupy the rest of the day.
