Description
Kielder in Northumberland is surrounded by extensive forest and reservoir water, with blue inlets, dark conifer slopes and distant rolling hills seen here beneath a softly coloured late-day sky.
A large forestry plantation surrounds Kielder village and Kielder Water in Northumberland. Nearby, the castle began as a hunting lodge for the Duke of Northumberland in the 1770s, adding an earlier estate landmark to the modern forest and reservoir landscape.
From high ground, the view crosses dense pointed conifers towards broad blue water. Wooded peninsulas reach into the reservoir, with pale pink tree bands interrupting the darker evergreen slopes. Heather and grey rocks occupy the near edge, suggesting late summer or early autumn. Soft peach-white clouds spread above distant blue hills, and gentle light leaves the nearest forest in deep green shadow.
