Kimmeridge follows a curving shingle bay beneath a grassy headland tower, where layered shore rocks and a wide sea horizon give Dorset's coast a spare grandeur.

A low round tower occupies the crest above the bay, silhouetted against a sky streaked with high cloud. Beneath it, green slopes fall towards a crescent of pale shingle and the smooth blue sea. Dark shelves of rock make a textured foreground, guiding the eye around the waterline towards the distant headland. Soft pink flowers at the edge of the shore add a small note of colour to the broad coastal palette.

For walkers who return to Kimmeridge, the curve of the bay recalls a coast best read slowly from path to beach. The tower gives a fixed point on the rise, while the exposed rock layers and open water retain the character of Dorset's Jurassic shoreline.
