Description
Kirby-le-Soken appears beneath a bright Essex sky, where a warm stone church tower, graveyard and still lily-covered water create a calm, closely observed village scene.
A square crenellated tower rises at the left of Kirby-le-Soken, its pointed-arch windows catching the sun above a low slate roof. Dark cypresses stand among pale headstones, while a timbered porch peeks from the trees. In front, the church is doubled in a pond broken by lily pads and reeds.
