L'Amour désarmé, or Cupid Disarmed, is a fine example of the technical precision achieved by the French engraver Christophe Guerin. This work depicts a classical mythological scene where Venus, the goddess of love, gently removes the bow from her son, Cupid. The composition draws upon the visual language of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, prioritising clear anatomical modelling and a balanced arrangement of figures within a wooded setting.

Guerin employs a sophisticated system of hatching and cross-hatching to define the musculature of the figures and the textures of the surrounding foliage.
