Description
Lanark in South Lanarkshire surrounds calm turquoise water with leafy trees, a small wooded island and shaded grass beneath tall cream clouds on a clear summer afternoon beside the loch.
Lanark Loch lies beside the town’s historic golf course on Hyndford Road. The artificial lake was developed in the early nineteenth century on the site of a curling pond and supplied local drinking water until 1881. Today its banks form a public recreational landscape with a circular walk.
Lanark opens across turquoise water towards a low island thick with leafy trees. Soft green reflections stretch across the lightly rippled surface, interrupted by bright cream cloud shapes. Overhanging branches shade the near lawn and narrow brown waterside path. Pale distant roofs appear through a gap beyond the island, suggesting a clear summer afternoon on the sheltered bank.
