Description
Lechlade follows the upper Thames in Gloucestershire beneath tall riverside trees, where moored narrowboats and green reflections show the sheltered character of this town at the Cotswold edge.
At the edge of the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire, Lechlade marks the usual upper limit of Thames navigation for larger leisure craft. Smaller boats can travel farther upstream when conditions allow, but the town remains a familiar starting point for journeys along the navigable river.
A line of narrowboats rests beside the far bank under tall leafy trees. Their red, cream and dark hulls break the long green reflections, while a bare branch projects from the near water's edge. White flowers soften the grass at lower left. The yellow-green canopy and warm light suggest late summer, with blue water keeping the shaded moorings cool.
