Description
Little Wyvis in Highland Easter Ross rises beyond leafy birches and dark conifers, with rounded rocky shoulders and open green slopes under a high blue sky of thin white summer clouds.
Little Wyvis is a 764 metre Corbett beside the much larger Ben Wyvis. The usual ascent makes use of tracks beginning at Silver Bridge. An alternative from the Ben Wyvis car park crosses boggier ground, placing the smaller hill within a landscape of forest approaches and open upland slopes.
Leafy birches fill the lower valley, with their pale trunks visible among rounded green crowns. Darker conifers form broad belts farther up the slopes, beside a patch of sparse bare stems. Beyond, rounded hills show grey rock faces below grassy upper ground. Full foliage and large blue sky spaces suggest bright summer weather over the wooded approach to the mountain.
