Description
Loch Gruinart opens beyond rolling green folds towards a pale tidal shore, a spacious Islay prospect for those who enjoy low island country and the distance visible across it.
A long cream sandbar lies in bright blue water beneath a line of low rocky rises. Dark patches of vegetation trace hollows on the nearer flanks. At the bottom left, a lichen marked boulder sits among close shrubs and long grass, giving scale to the open ground beyond.
The breadth of Loch Gruinart is felt through the gradual descent from hillside to shore. Its quiet horizontal bands make a gentle contrast with the overlapping slopes in front. It will appeal to an island connection shaped by long views, when small changes in height reveal another channel, sand edge or strip of distant sea.
