Description
Loch Linnhe in the western Highlands stretches beyond a quiet stony beach towards low islands, with blue mountain layers and soft cloud reflections creating a broad, luminous summer seascape.
Loch Linnhe follows the Great Glen Fault from Fort William towards the Firth of Lorn on Scotland’s western coast. This sea loch extends for about 35 kilometres, widening below the Corran narrows. Several neighbouring inlets join it, including Loch Leven from the east and Loch Eil near its head.
A narrow belt of grey pebbles and dark seaweed separates the calm water from coarse grass and white flowers. Low rocky islands extend across the centre, their green tops catching warmer light. Behind them, overlapping mountains fade from deep blue to pale haze. White cumulus clouds are loosely reflected on the nearly level surface, lending the summer shore a cool, unhurried atmosphere.
