Description
Lochcarron in Highland Wester Ross follows a quiet rocky shore with pale houses and leafy gardens, their reflections broken by gold seaweed on the blue water in gentle spring sunshine.
Lochcarron extends for almost two miles along the shore of Loch Carron, a sea inlet on Scotland’s west coast. The Wester Ross village was once known as Janetown or Jeantown. Its long waterfront position provides a base for exploring nearby mountain country and the routes towards Applecross.
A line of cream houses recedes along the shore beneath broad green trees and darker conifers. One small tree carries white blossom near the left edge. Pale angular stones cover the bank, descending to brown shingle and patches of ochre seaweed. Across the blue loch, rounded mountain shoulders catch warm light below cream clouds, suggesting a sheltered day in late spring.
