Description
Lockerbie in Dumfries and Galloway spreads beyond a sunlit green field, with slender spires, pale rooftops and wooded streets set against rolling farmland beneath an expansive blue summer sky.
North of the Scottish border, this market town stands on the main road and railway corridor between Carlisle and Glasgow. Its long agricultural history included Scotland's largest lamb market, while the red sandstone town hall opened in 1891 adds a distinctive civic landmark.
At Lockerbie, tall church spires and a smaller clock tower rise above tightly grouped cream houses. Grey slate and warm red roofs alternate among dense green trees. A broad grassy slope fills the front, edged with white flowers and dark leafy plants. Patchwork fields recede towards low blue hills beneath bright clouds, suggesting a clear afternoon in midsummer.
