Description
Ludlow in Shropshire stands above the River Teme near the Welsh border, with castle walls and towers catching golden light above thick trees and the reflective curve of the water.
Built above the Teme, Ludlow Castle formed part of a chain of strongholds along the Welsh Marches. The planned town developed from its gates, and surviving medieval streets still connect this south Shropshire settlement with the fortress that shaped its early growth.
Battlemented walls and square towers rise from a densely wooded slope. A small flag catches the light above the central tower, while the river below reflects orange sky between dark green banks. Layered purple hills stretch beyond the castle. Full foliage suggests summer, with a low sun and peach clouds giving the stone a warm evening glow.
