Description
Newark Bay on Mainland, Orkney curves below low farmland, with pale sand and dark seaweed tracing the shore beside turquoise water and a grassy bank dotted with yellow flowers.
Newark Bay lies in Deerness on the southeastern coast of Orkney's main island. Its gently curved beach sits below low fields and scattered farm buildings, giving this stretch of coast an open agricultural setting with little interruption to the broad horizon.
The view of Mainland, Orkney follows a pale crescent of sand edged by a broken brown strand of seaweed. Small waves form thin white arcs across the turquoise shallows. Long grass and yellow flowers cover the nearer bank, while distant houses remain low against the green fields. Above them, soft clouds stretch across a bright blue sky.
