Description
Maoile Lunndaidh in Highland Monar stands beyond dark turquoise water and golden slopes, with bare shore trees and snowy mountain crowns beneath a high blue sky in crisp early spring light.
Maoile Lunndaidh occupies remote upland ground at the head of Loch Monar, usually approached from Glencarron. Its extensive summit plateau is cut by steep corries. The commonly used route follows the Allt a’ Chonais approach, while the alternative from the Monar dam involves a long journey through the eastern glens.
Grey boulders and rusty shrubs line the near bank above deep turquoise water. Across the loch, a short row of bare trees stands on gold grass below a narrow valley. Snow covers the broad mountain crown at the back, with smaller patches on the darker ridge to its right. White cloud reflections and leafless branches suggest bright early spring weather around the cold uplands.
