Description
Mendip Hills gives a Somerset country connection a generous green outlook, with scattered homes below a broad ridge offering a bright retreat for someone drawn to walks above the fields.
White flower heads rise from the near hedge beneath long strips of pasture. A cream house with a small roof turret sits among trees at the right. Farther up, red tiled cottages gather below a large many gabled frontage, while patches of scrub and pale exposed ground mark the rounded summit.
The Mendip Hills remain closely linked to the inhabited country at their foot in this view. Field boundaries divide the distance into manageable stages before the open hillside takes over. Anyone who enjoys the approach to higher ground can appreciate that gradual change, with enough domestic detail to suggest home and enough rising grass to promise a longer walk beyond it.
