Description
Minginish on Highland Skye opens across turquoise coastal water from low rocky moorland, with heather, pale outcrops and distant cliff edges giving the broad summer scene a sense of exposed space.
Minginish forms a large peninsula on Skye’s western side, between Loch Bracadale, Loch Harport and the Cuillin country. Steep valleys including Glen Brittle and Glen Eynort divide its interior. Much of the upland ground is uninhabited, while crofting settlements occupy more sheltered parts of the coast.
Low grey rock shelves and muted purple heather occupy the near slope, broken by short green grass. Across the broad blue inlet, a long headland ends in small dark stacks on the left. Its grassy top rises towards a blunt distant hill. Pale reflections cross the water beneath large white cloud banks, suggesting a clear summer day with light falling across the open coast.
