Description
Mingulay in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides curves into a broad empty beach, with soft white surf, blue water and green rocky slopes beyond sunlit dune grass in summer.
Mingulay lies near the southern end of the Outer Hebrides. Its last permanent residents left in 1912, leaving buildings and field systems that recall an island community sustained by farming and fishing. The island is now cared for by the National Trust for Scotland.
Pale sand fills the right side of a sheltered bay, meeting turquoise shallows along a thin white wave edge. A long green slope descends towards grey rocks across the far shore. The near dune carries rough grass and deep shadows, while cream clouds with lavender undersides drift through a clear blue sky above the quiet summer beach.
