Description
Moeraki Boulders sit among the incoming surf, their rounded forms scattered across wet sand beneath a wide, cloud-marked sky, beneath a broad sky, with soft cloud overhead.
Large spherical stones occupy the foreground and middle shore, with dark cracks visible across their weathered surfaces. White foam curls around the boulders as waves break along the beach. Across the water, a low green headland carries small pale buildings, while bands of cloud trail over the blue sky.
The scattered stones give the beach its recognisable character, and the shallow water changes how each one meets the sand. Moeraki Boulders appears at the edge of the tide, with the coast continuing behind them. Visitors who have walked this shoreline may remember the scale of the round rocks beside the breaking surf.
