Description
Mullach Fraoch-choire in Highland Kintail rises above gold slopes and dark gullies, with two stone cairns and lingering snow patches beneath a bright blue sky in clear late spring weather.
This 1,102 metre Munro stands north of Cluanie, linked to A’ Chralaig by an exposed ridge with rocky pinnacles. Its upper ground overlooks the head of Glen Affric and Loch Affric. Routes commonly combine the two mountains before descending through Coire Odhar towards the long pass of An Caorann Mòr.
A compact upright cairn and a lower broad stone heap occupy the grassy foreground. Beyond Mullach Fraoch-choire, steep gold and olive slopes fall into dark gullies beneath a pointed upper crown. Irregular snow patches remain along the high ridge and sheltered hollows. Strong light on the grass and cream cloud edges suggest clear late spring weather after snow has retreated from the lower ground.
