Description
Nairn on the Highland Moray coast holds white sailing boats in a still blue harbour, with fine mast reflections and pale waterfront houses under a wide, softly clouded summer sky.
Nairn developed as a fishing port and market town where its river enters the Moray Firth, east of Inverness. The former royal burgh is also known for its beaches and seaside setting. Its waterfront connects the old fishing quarter with the broad coastal sands on either side of the river mouth.
Rows of white hulls gather inside a pale stone wall, with blue covers and slender masts repeated in the calm basin. Large cream houses stand beyond the right quay, backed by green trees and low blue hills. At the near edge, sand and dark seaweed show through the shallow water. Broad cream clouds leave soft light on the quiet summer harbour.
