Description
New Lanark in South Lanarkshire places long stone buildings beside a reflective blue river, with steep green woodland and a mossy waterside wall under cream clouds on a mild summer afternoon.
This former eighteenth century cotton spinning village stands beside the Falls of Clyde and is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its buildings remain part of a living community within a National Nature Reserve. The river continues to supply power through the village’s hydroelectric generation.
New Lanark has long pale stone buildings with repeated tall windows and grey slate roofs beyond the blue river. A small cupola rises above the left block, backed by a steep green wooded slope. Moss covers the broad near wall beside a narrow waterside path. Cream and pink tinged clouds over leafy banks suggest a mild summer afternoon.
