Description
Newbiggin-by-the-Sea in Northumberland faces a sandy bay known for its maritime heritage, with pale seafront houses reflected here in shallow blue water beneath a wide sky of scattered cream clouds.
This Northumberland coastal town has a maritime centre exploring its coastal history. Offshore, Sean Henry's Couple sculpture has become a recognisable feature of the bay, connecting the town's seaward outlook with a more recent landmark in the surrounding water.
At Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, a low row of cream, yellow and brick buildings follows the seawall across the far shore. Wet sand and turquoise shallows fill the foreground, repeating the pale facades in broken reflections. Thin white waves curl towards the beach. Bright light and fresh green shrubs suggest a summer-like day, while broad clouds leave plenty of blue sky above the waterfront.
