Description
Newport Marshes in south Wales stretches through golden reeds towards a white lighthouse, with a quiet path beside the wetland and a blue estuary beneath soft late-summer cloud.
Newport Marshes forms part of the wetland landscape near the mouth of the River Usk. Former industrial ground has been transformed into reedbeds and lagoons, with wet grassland and mudflats supporting wildlife. Birds associated with the reserve include bitterns and bearded tits.
A grey path narrows through tall golden reeds towards a white lighthouse on the left. Its dark lantern stands above the flat marshland, with a small gallery around the top. Blue estuary water separates the reeds from distant low hills, while cream and lilac clouds spread across an open sky touched by warm late-summer light.
