Description
Nupend Wood is framed by a wind-shaped pine above pale cliffs, where a blue river folds through wooded slopes towards the softly patterned Herefordshire hills.
At the foreground ledge, mottled heather spreads around squared blocks of stone, while a broad tree trunk leans across the upper frame. Dense green crowns cover the valley floor, and a narrow bright ribbon curves past a sandy bank. Beyond the near ridge, field compartments climb in gentle bands beneath tall cream clouds.
A walk at Nupend Wood brings the height of the escarpment into view before the ground drops away. For visitors, the watercourse offers a bearing through the valley; nearby residents may recognise the distant fields beyond the sheltered trees.
