Description
Osborne overlooks calm blue water from a grand pale villa, its clock tower, terraces and dark pines giving the Isle of Wight shore a composed elegance.
Slate-blue ripples carry the building's vertical reflections across the foreground below a long arcaded frontage. A white balustrade traces the seaward edge, while rows of tall windows, a low stone landing and pale stepped bedrock establish the shore in crisp, ordered detail. At the far left, a stepped route drops beneath the colonnade towards the waterline.
Osborne is portrayed with the measured formality of a landmark beside the sea. The building's symmetrical presence is balanced by the irregular shoreline, creating a coastal image that will appeal to people who know the Isle of Wight's historic waterfront.
