Description
Penberry in Pembrokeshire rises above yellow gorse and muted pink heath, with a rocky coastal dome facing blue sea and distant cliffs beneath the warm white clouds of late summer.
On the northern coast of the St Davids peninsula, this tor belongs to a chain of hard igneous outcrops. Its summit looks across western Pembrokeshire towards Ramsey and St Brides Bay, above a surrounding plateau formed as the sea eroded softer rocks.
At Penberry, a rounded mass of grey rock stands above low green and tawny ground. Yellow gorse fills the foreground among patches of dusky pink heath, beside a narrow bare-earth path. Beyond the rocky dome, pale cliffs trace successive bays around blue water. Cream cloud with lilac shadows suggests a bright afternoon as summer colours begin to mellow.
